Entry #10 Modern Medicine
Medicine over the years has substantially grown and developed scientifically as well as the positive impact it has had on society. Specifically modern medicine, it is a holy grail in the medical field with some slight controversies every once in a while. Although it may have its ups and downs it is a huge advantage to have in the medical field such as efficiency and prevention.
In medicine efficiency is the key to life or death situations and with modern medicine involved it makes it a lot easier and faster to maneuver through challenges. The article Traditional Medicine vs Modern Medicine states, " This makes Modern Medicine more precise in determining the diagnosis and how to treat this specific disease. This means it saves time whether in treatment or recovery and resources." This proves that with the use of modern medicine it allows for a more effective plan and organization when dealing with patients. Having the ability to be precise with information and one's actions it helps decrease and prevent the possibilities of complications.
No one wants to spend their time going in and out of hospitals for something that could have been prevented. Using information and medicine correctly enables the likelihood of that not to happen. An example would be vaccines, being vaccinated can stop and weaken any diseases or viruses that could be encountered. The article Modern Medicine: Towards Prevention, Cure, Well-being and Longevity claims that, "Moreover, prevention, understood as preventing a disease from occurring, also means, finding out vaccines, and other preventive measures, for all its diseases, not just the infectious" (Singh). Having the ability to prevent infections, diseases, and other sicknesses with vaccines is a major part of modern medicine that contributes to its effectiveness.
Medicine continues to grow and develop making it more reliable and effective to be used widely on people. Modern medicine and its advantages is the reason why many people can stay healthy and get the help they need. Due to its potential of preventing, even stopping, and staying efficient is a few of the reasons why it is so important to have and to maintain.
As a diabetic I can say I'm grateful for how advanced medicine is. If it weren't for doctor's and scientists willing to find cures or treatments I'm unsure what life would be like today.
