Entry #2 The benefits of AI

Artificial intelligence has always been a controversial topic. Is it a good or bad thing? Depending on your stance and opinions on AI you could say it's good, bad, or probably even a little bit of both. The advancement of artificial intelligence has grown substantially and not just in everyday things like machines, ChatGPT, or random miscellaneous things. It has made an impact in the medical field that will help further our understanding of many things or making simple tasks even easier.

The use of AI has been welcomed by doctors and nurses making things easier for them. WGU provides several topics about why artificial intelligence is helpful in more ways than one but for today's purpose it will be focused on how its benefited the medical world. AI has made it easier and much more accessible for doctors to understand and see any issues their patients may have. An example used in WGU that relates to this is, "...doctors can track a diabetic patient’s glucose levels with the assistance of a glucose monitoring app, and that same patient can get real-time data about their health from the comfort of their home." Not only is AI benefitting the doctor but as well as the patient making it easier and more accessible to be aware of their condition or any other important information that should be noted.

In the healthcare system humans benefit from artificial intelligence could that range from new drug discovery or developments, patient diagnosis, patient prognosis, and more. It could enhance a patients experience, patient care, and the remote care for patients. More specific examples provided from The National Library of Medicine are, "Automated grading of diabetic retinopathy leading to increased efficiency in diagnosing many patients in shorter time;" and "Detection of diabetic retinopathy in early stages due to capability of the model to study images at the granular level-something impossible for a human opthalmologist to do;" these examples help further my argument as to why AI is so beneficial to the healthcare system.

Regardless of all the myths or crazy stories surrounding AI I hope to have changed your mind that in at least one way it is benefiting humans in more than one way when it comes to the medical field. It's made the jobs of doctors and nurses easier and has helped the experience of patients to go by more smoothly.

  1. I felt like AI was a waste of time, but your blog has proven me wrong and convinced me it will be very helpful to everyone. I ended up reading more about it and it gave me a better understanding of how beneficial it will be to us humans. Your blog was very well written and gave me a better understanding of what AI was.

  2. Better job of establishing the context and inviting the reader into the conversation at the start of this post. This is a timely and interesting topic. Again, you have some rogue highlighting and black text within this entry that makes sections of it not visible and unable to read.
