In the ad "Tailgater" it uses several ways to lead up to the message of the video. It appeals to a target audience of football fans by incorporating it into the ad but the use of humor makes it into a selling point for anyone else to be interested in. By using football, humor, and America's culture of sports leads up to the message of what they are promoting/trying to sell.
In the ad the driver is seen as a football fan which makes it more appealing to the target audience of those who like the sport. It shows him in a rush to get to the tailgate which is why he is tailgating the car in front of him. This leads the driver in front of the football fan to be less focused on the cars in front of him which is why he crashes into the car in front.
Although the football fan is being reckless he is aware of what he is doing which is how humor is used. He knows he is tailgating a car to get to a tailgate. The use of this humor is a way to catch the viewers attention of how the situation could have been avoided. The depiction of American culture is used through American's love for sports.
By using different tactics of catching the viewers attention it leads up to their selling point. Having insurance is needed because certain situations could occur even when they are being prevented. It is better to be safe than sorry by having insurance because accidents can't be predicted. By using football, the American culture of love for football and humor it is a way for consumers to be persuaded to have Allstate.
